Krishna Bahadur Bohora –

Krishna was raised in a remote village in eastern Nepal, where his parents, who didn’t have the chance for a formal education, worked as farmers. Now he lives in Lalitpur with his wife, Ramila, two children, and mother-in-law. He found the Lord aged 14, but he couldn’t attend church for many years because his mother was the sole believer in their village and there wasn’t a church close-by. He currently serves as a deacon of Beth Shalom Church, the first church in Kathmandu valley.

God’s calling to this work grew from a deep-seated desire to move from serving private schools in Kathmandu valley to making a difference in remote communities through education. It meant leaving behind comfort and a higher salary, choosing instead lower pay and extensive travel, despite his motion sickness and the time away from his family.

Kisiizi Hospital

Kisiizi Hospital was founded in 1958, at the instigation of the Church of Uganda, on the site of an old flax factory. The location was chosen because it was beside a waterfall that could provide electricity for the hospital.

The first Medical Superintendent was Dr John Sharp, an Englishman who had grown up in the area and so knew its peoples and customs well. The hospital has continued to operate ever since, through the civil wars, atrocities and other strife that has afflicted Uganda from time to time.
